I departed Elkins the morning of Saturday, May 6, 2000, for the Pittsburgh airport.  From there, I flew to Dulles, and from there on an overnight flight to Munich, Germany, on one of the new Boeing 777 wide-body jets.  I was met at the airport Sunday morning by our Tour Director, Wouter, a Dutch fellow who married an American lady and who now lives in Pennsylvania.  Wouter speaks eight languages.  He told me that Dutch students are expected to speak and understand written English, German and French by High School graduation!  Also on hand was Jesse, our German bus driver.  After picking up some tour members who arrived on later flights, we headed for our hotel in Munich.
